Oya No Kai's mission to enhance the level of cultural education in the Japanese Immersion Program. We support student success by fostering a robust intern program that supports our teachers, by creating opportunities for students to experience Japanese culture directly through cultural exchanges, and by organizing community events. It is our hope that when our students graduate, they will be better prepared and more knowledgeable of the world around them.

Oya No Kai’s online store is open for orders of T-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, and totes and featuring our new 2023 Kintsugi design. This year’s design, by JDLI student Linna Hopper, is dedicated to the idea of kintsugi: regrowth and coming back stronger.  From the artist: "This design incorporates sakura blossoms, representing renewal and regrowth. The teacup was inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by filling in the cracks with gold. I feel like this relates a lot to the themes of regrowth and coming back stronger than before. Instead of trying to hide the cracks, kintsugi emphasizes imperfections and acknowledges them as a part of the pottery’s history – even though the pandemic hit everyone hard and changed some things for good, we can recover and rebuild stronger. I added the rabbit in because I felt like something was missing and 2023 will be the Year of the Rabbit!"
