Oya No Kai's mission is to enhance the level of cultural education in the Japanese Dual Language Immersion Program. We support student success by fostering a robust intern program that supports our teachers by creating opportunities for students to experience Japanese culture directly through cultural exchanges and community events. We hope that when our students graduate, they will be better prepared and more knowledgeable of the world around them.

2026 Theme & Artwork
We are so excited to announce this year's theme: Wabi Sabi
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese aesthetic and philosophy that finds beauty in imperfecion, impermanence, and incompleteness. It celebrates the authentic, modest, and natural over the artificial and flawless, recognizing that beauty exists in things that are imperfect, weathered, and have a history.
On a personal level, it encourages slowing down, being present, and appreciating the natural and imperfect state of things and people.
The artwork was designed by Micah Kassell, a JDLI parent of a sophomore and an 8th grader.
For more information about the artist, visit his website or follow @micahkassell on instagram.
