Oya No Kai's mission is to enhance the level of cultural education in the Japanese Dual Language Immersion Program. We support student success by fostering a robust intern program that supports our teachers, by creating opportunities for students to experience Japanese culture directly through cultural exchanges, and by organizing community events. We hope that when our students graduate, they will be better prepared and more knowledgeable of the world around them.
Please join us for a terrific evening that supports our children in becoming global citizens as we also celebrate our 35th Anniversary this year!

2024 Dragon Artwork
We are so excited to announce this year's artwork was designed by Kaya Zuch, a senior at Grant High School who has been in the JDLI program since pre-K. Her design depicts a dragon inspired by Haku in the movie “Spirited Away” with its long snake-like body coiled around the uchiwa (fan) in the center.
From the Artist: “2024 is the year of the dragon, specifically the year of the wood dragon, or in Japanese 甲辰 (きのえ たつ or kinoe tatsu). The wood dragon is considered to bring good luck, it also symbolizes a promise of success taking shape. And since this year's theme is about celebration, I wanted to incorporate that idea in a clear way that everyone could recognize, and the uchiwa was my way of doing that. While the uchiwa symbolizes an omatsuri (festival) and a call for celebration, the 35 on the uchiwa represents something we can all celebrate this year, Oya No Kai’s 35th Anniversary!”
